Let’s Talk About Self-Love

It seems that over the past decade, we’ve seen an explosion of messaging about the importance of “loving yourself.” Somewhere along the way, self-love became synonymous with buying a new purse, eating a cupcake (or two or three), and racking up a bill at a luxury spa.

Once you strip away the marketing, it’s worth asking: what does self-love actually mean?

Don’t get us wrong - treats can be great. An indulgent spa day can be a meaningful way to acknowledge how hard you’ve been working. And yes, there is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying a cupcake. But when we look at the long-term impact, that version of “self-love” can be fleeting, and about as enduring as the love story in Wuthering Heights.

So what does real self-love look like?

It looks like holding yourself accountable, even when it’s uncomfortable. It’s pushing yourself during a workout and not quitting when things get hard. It’s cleaning your house because you deserve to live in a space that feels good. It’s adding more vegetables to your plate because they nourish you. It’s letting go of habits that offer quick comfort but don’t serve you in the long run.

It’s getting a full night of sleep even when you want to stay up scrolling.

It’s asking for help instead of saying “I’m fine”.

It’s finding motivation to show up on your hardest days.

This week, practice self-love by reframing your workout. It’s not a punishment - it’s an act of genuine self-care. You’re challenging your body to adapt, to grow stronger, and to support you not just now, but for years to come. A workout isn’t just physical, it’s a mental and emotional boost of confidence.

One of our core values at Evolved is Tough Love. Our clients leave with an empty tank but a full cup. They are physically exhausted, yet emotionally enriched by the trainers positive energy & undivided attention.

So today, ask yourself: How are you filling your cup?
