After a rainy Labour Day long weekend, it feels like fall is officially here! That crisp chill is in the air, yellow leaves are appearing, the kids are back in school, and summer holidays have come to an end.
It’s completely normal for our routines to change during the summer. Family schedules shift, we travel more, and we take some well-deserved time away from regular life to enjoy the warmer weather.
Now that we’re bundling up and settling back into a more consistent schedule, it’s a great time to look at our health routines & make an action plan for the season ahead.
Life gets busy, but something we know all too well at Evolved is that you don’t need to carve out hours every week to take care of your health. A little planning and a consistent routine can go a long way.
Fall is the perfect time creating routine, and your workouts are an important part of that. Here are a few questions to help you create a routine that works:
What time do I feel my best in the studio?
We don’t all perform at our best at the same time of day. Some people are true early birds & rock their 6 a.m. workouts. Others prefer a midday break, an afternoon session, or a workout after dinner.
Knowing when you generally have the most energy can make your workouts feel better and help you stay consistent. The best workout time is ultimately the one that fits your life and that you can regularly commit to.
Can I commit to a recurring time every week?
Booking a recurring appointment is one of the easiest ways to make strength training part of your routine. When your workout already has a place in your calendar, you don’t have to find time for it each week.
Of course, we know not everyone’s schedule looks the same from week to week. Shift workers, frequent travellers, and anyone without a predictable routine may find it easier to sit down at the beginning of each month and book their sessions in advance.
The goal isn’t to create a perfect schedule. It’s to create a realistic one.
Am I maximizing my strength-training potential?
It’s normal to ease off during the summer when we’re travelling, spending time outdoors, and being active in other ways. Fall is a great opportunity to evaluate whether you’re ready to do a little more.
If you’ve been coming in once a week, consider trying twice a week over the colder months. If you want more variety or have a specific area you would like to improve, you could also add a virtual session that is tailored to your goals.
We recommend in-studio training for optimal full-body strength development, with virtual sessions used as a convenient complement for additional movement or more specific goals.
What other healthy habits can I build into my routine?
Once your strength-training schedule is in place, think about the other habits that help you feel your best. That might mean:
Getting back to a consistent sleep schedule.
Meal planning for busy weekdays.
Staying hydrated. Herbal tea is our cozy go-to!
Making time for walks and daily movement.
Adding a sauna session to boost recovery during the week.
You don’t need to overhaul your entire life overnight. Choose one or two habits that feel realistic and build from there. Just like our 15-minute workouts - small steps, repeated consistently, are what make the biggest difference over time!
